Niklas Engbom awarded the Frisch Medal of the Econometric Society
—
Niklas Engbom (jointly with his coauthors Adrien Bilal, Simon Mongey, and Gianluca Violante) has been awarded the 2026 Frisch Medal of the Econometric Society for their paper, "Firm and Worker Dynamics in a Frictional Labor Market" (Econometrica, Vol. 90, No. 4, July 2022, 1425–1462). The paper integrates the theory of firm boundaries into a model of the labor market with random matching and on-the-job search, offering new insights into how firm and worker dynamics interact in the presence of search frictions. The Frisch Medal is awarded biennially for the best applied paper published in Econometrica in the preceding four calendar years.
Niklas Engbom is an Assistant Professor of Economics at NYU Stern.
