Admissions
Finality of Admissions Decisions
All admissions decisions are final. The Admissions Committee is unable to reconsider decisions once they have been released.
Accuracy of Application Information
An offer of admission is contingent upon the accuracy and completeness of all information submitted during the application process. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to rescind an offer of admission if it is determined that an applicant has provided inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information at any stage of the application or enrollment process. Decisions to rescind an offer are final and not subject to appeal.
Application Fee
The application fee is non-refundable and may not be applied toward future applications to NYU Stern or other NYU programs.
Applying to Multiple NYU Stern Programs
Applicants may apply to only one NYU Stern graduate program per start term. Applicants who submit applications to multiple programs in the same start term may be asked to choose a single program for consideration. If an applicant is not offered admission or withdraws an application, they may request permission to apply to a different NYU Stern program within the same admissions cycle. All such requests must be submitted to the MSBAi Admissions Office and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Approval is required prior to submitting a new application.
Reapplication Policy
Applicants who are not admitted in a given admissions cycle are welcome to reapply in a future cycle. Reapplicants are encouraged to strengthen their candidacy prior to reapplying. A new application and application fee are required.
Enrollment Deposit
If admitted, a $7,200 non-refundable enrollment deposit is required to hold your place in the program. The enrollment deposit is not refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.
Deposit Deadlines and Extensions
Deposit deadlines are outlined in the offer of admission. Requests for deposit deadline extensions must be submitted in writing to the MSBAi Admissions Office and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Extensions are not guaranteed.
Deferred Enrollment
Admitted students who experience unforeseen personal or professional challenges may request a deferral of enrollment for up to one academic year. Deferral requests must be submitted in writing to the MSBAi Admissions Office and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Scholarships and financial awards are not guaranteed to carry over to a deferred start term.
Changing Program or Enrollment Status
Students enrolled in the MSBAi program are not permitted to transfer to other NYU Stern degree programs after matriculation. Applicants should carefully consider program fit prior to accepting an offer of admission.
International Students
International Student Eligibility and Visa Process
International students are welcome and encouraged to apply to the Master of Science in Business Analytics & AI (MSBAi) program. Admissions policies, evaluation criteria, and tuition fees are the same for both international and non-international applicants.
To support visa processing for the program’s U.S.-based modules, international students are encouraged to connect with the Office of Global Services (OGS) to submit required documentation for each module. Most international students apply for an F-1 student visa to attend the program.
International students are responsible for all costs associated with SEVIS registration and visa applications throughout their enrollment in the program.
Optional Practical Training (OPT)
The MSBAi program does not qualify for Optional Practical Training (OPT).
While the MSBAi program is STEM-designated and open to international students, its part-time, modular structure does not meet U.S. federal eligibility requirements for OPT. As a result, students enrolled in the MSBAi program are not eligible for OPT authorization during or after completion of the program.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully consider this policy when evaluating the program in relation to their post-study employment plans.
Program-Specific Policies
Mandatory Attendance Guidelines
Attendance in person is required for all program modules in addition to some online sessions during the pre-module period. See the current MSBAi program calendar for details. Note these are subject to change. Once enrolled, you will receive detailed information about module dates and schedules. Programming during the modules takes place all day and happens in real-time, so please ensure you obtain necessary time off from work to complete each module. Remote access is not available.
On-Campus Event Attendance and Behavior Courtesy
Individuals who attend an NYU Stern event or program are expected to interact with NYU staff, alumni, volunteers, students and all other individuals in a responsible, appropriate, and professional manner and are further expected to abide by all applicable NYU policies, including but not limited to the Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy; the Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence and Stalking Policy; and the Code of Ethical Conduct. Should an individual engage in behavior in violation of any such policy or otherwise be deemed, in NYU's sole discretion, to be engaging in conduct that is disorderly or disruptive, NYU may take administrative action including but not limited to removing an attendee from an event and barring them from participating in future University events and programs.
Mastery of the English Language
During the interview, as well as through the formal application, we will assess the English language proficiency level of applicants for whom English is a second language. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request a TOEFL if deemed necessary.
Notice of Right to Change Information at Any Time
The policies, requirements, course offerings, schedules, activities, tuition, fees and calendar of the School and its departments and programs set forth on this website are subject to change without notice at any time at the sole discretion of the administration. Such changes may be of any nature, including, but not limited to, the elimination of the School, programs, program options, locations, classes or activities; the relocation or modification of the content of any of the aforementioned; and the cancellation of scheduled classes or other academic activities. Payment of tuition or attendance at any classes shall constitute a student’s acceptance of the administration’s rights set forth in this paragraph.
Policy Statement
New York University is committed to a policy of equal treatment and opportunity in every aspect of its relations with its faculty, students and staff members without regard to age, citizenship status, color, disability, marital or parental status, national origin, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or any other legally protected status.
Transferring Credits
NYU Stern does not accept transfer credits.
Verification Process
NYU Stern may verify applicant records and other reported data to maintain the strict standards and honor code of the NYU Stern School of Business. If NYU Stern requests verification, you may be responsible for the fee for this service.
Change of Contact Information
It is the applicant’s responsibility to update NYU Stern immediately with any new contact information. Failure to update contact information may result in applicants missing important communications from the University, which could jeopardize applicants’ admission and/or place in the class. If your contact information needs to be updated, please email msbai@stern.nyu.edu.
Scholarships
Guidelines for Scholarship Awards
The total scholarship amount will be applied to and split evenly across all payment installments. It will be applied after any third-party benefits, such as employer sponsorships, VA benefits, or external scholarships. Scholarships cannot be applied toward the enrollment deposit. They can only be used for tuition and fees.
External Funding
If you receive additional funding from an external source (e.g., employer sponsorship or external scholarships), that funding will be applied first. If it covers your full balance for an installment, the portion of your scholarship for that term will be reduced, but your total scholarship award will remain the same.
No Refund Policy
If your scholarship covers more than your tuition balance for a term, the amount applied will be reduced. You will not receive a refund, and the unused portion will not carry over to other semesters.
Other Policies
Enrollment in Courses Outside the MSBAi Program
Students enrolled in the Master of Science in Business Analytics & AI (MSBAi) program are not permitted to enroll in credit-bearing courses outside of the MSBAi curriculum, including courses offered by other NYU Stern programs or other NYU schools.
The MSBAi program is a structured, cohort-based program with a defined curriculum designed to ensure academic continuity and timely completion. As such, cross-registration, elective enrollment outside the program, and course substitutions are not permitted.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the program curriculum prior to accepting an offer of admission to ensure alignment with their academic and professional goals.
Military Application Fee Waiver
Active-duty U.S. military service members and U.S. military veterans are eligible for an application fee waiver. Requests should be submitted to the MSBAi Admissions Office prior to submitting a formal application. Applicants should not submit an application until they have received confirmation of the fee waiver.
