The Fubon Technology Innovation Initiative

The Fubon Technology Innovation Initiative brings together scholars, managers, and students to conduct and disseminate world-class innovation research. The initiative hosts conferences, funds research projects, and engages in community outreach activities that help to make Innovation research both rigorous and accessible. Our objectives at the Fubon Technology Innovation Initiative are to:
  • Support and foster state of the art innovation research
  • To create synergistic collaborative relationships between innovation scholars and practitioners in technology-intensive industries
  • To increase the accessibility of innovation research to a wide audience

2021 Stern Innovation Conference: Innovating Virtually

September 17, 2021 - The last year and a half have dramatically changed the work environment, and have forced us to rethink how to accomplish collaboration, innovation and productivity. This has resulted in new technologies, organizational practices and norms that have enabled fundamental changes in how we come together and create things. In this fast-paced conference will discuss managing remote innovation and/or the new technologies and practices that are enabling it.

"Managing Innovation: Lessons learned at Kakao" Jihoon is the former CEO of Kakao, a $20B+ tech company in South Korea. He was hired as CEO when the company was facing a crisis in 2015, making him the youngest CEO of TOP 100 publicly traded companies in Korea. Under his leadership, Kakao, best known for its mobile messenger Kakao Talk, successfully expanded its business into finance, content, mobility: disrupting the market and delivering services praised by users.

This year's Stern Innovation Conference will be themed, "Transformative Technological Change," and will examine how major innovations are changing the landscape in industries as diverse as food agriculture, transportation, medicine, education, and more. We will also consider how firms, consumers, and regulators are responding (or will respond) to these changes.
