Deadline for Degree Completion

The deadline for degree completion is 6 years.

Program Duration & Extension Guidelines

The MBA program is designed to be completed within two (2) years. However, in rare and exceptional circumstances, students may request an extension of their program completion timeline, with a maximum allowable period of six (6) years from the original start date.

Strict Conditions for Extension Consideration

Extensions will only be considered under extraordinary circumstances, including:

  1. Serious Illness or Medical Emergency – A documented medical condition that significantly impairs the student’s ability to meet academic requirements.
  2. Unforeseen Family Emergency – A critical and unexpected family situation that necessitates the student’s immediate and prolonged attention.
  3. Other Exceptional Circumstances – Rare situations reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Prohibited Reasons for Extension

The following reasons will not be considered grounds for an extension:

  • Employment commitments or career-related obligations (students are explicitly instructed not to work full-time during the program).
  • Business endeavors or entrepreneurial activities.
  • Personal preference, lack of academic progress, or general time management challenges.

Application & Approval Process

  • Students seeking an extension must submit a formal Extension Request Form with comprehensive supporting documentation.
  • Requests must be reviewed and approved by the Academic Policy Board.
  • Approval is never guaranteed and is granted solely at the discretion of the School.
  • If an extension is granted, students must comply with any academic or administrative conditions outlined by the Academic Policy Board..

Final Decision

Stern reserves the right to deny any extension request if the justification does not meet the strict criteria set forth in this policy. Students are expected to plan accordingly and complete their degree within the standard and expected timeframe.
