One sentence quote about your experience at NYU Stern so far:

A fever dream of academics, happy hours, and lifelong friendships, all unfolding in the heart of NYC.

Why did you decide to pursue the focused one-year MBA program?

I was already working in tech and did not plan to make a full career pivot. Pursuing my MBA had always been a personal goal, and the one-year program offered the perfect balance. I could accelerate my learning and achieve what I wanted while taking only a short break from work. It was the best way to continue growing while keeping momentum in my career.

How did you find a sense of community and support within Stern?

I am naturally an extrovert, but even with a busy schedule, happy hours, and the energy of NYC, it can be hard to keep up. What stands out about Stern is how welcoming everyone is. I can show up exactly as I am, and people embrace that. Whether it is through late-night study sessions, WhatsApp polls, or spontaneous dinners, the support is genuine and constant.

How would you describe the culture and community within your class?

Our cohort is smaller than the two-year programs, so we are very tight-knit. Spending the summer on campus with the Luxury and Retail MBAs helped us form a special bond early on. Like any close community, we have our moments and challenges, but we grow through them together. It is true (and honestly, just part of reality that I have had to come to terms with) that you will not get along with everyone, and learning how to navigate that has been one of the most valuable lessons of business school.

What has been your favorite class at Stern? Why?

My favorite class was Accounting with Professor Julian Yeo. During one immersive class session, we played Monopoly, and the class was split into two teams. My half of the class had a blast building our balance sheet, making strategic housing purchases, and moving around the board together, all while in a friendly competition! (Spoiler alert: we won.) It was a creative and memorable way to apply what we were learning in real time.

What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?

Not to be cliché, but truly my cohort. They are some of the most inspiring, driven, and supportive people I have ever met. I am leaving this program with lifelong friends.
Oh, and AI.

Why did you choose NYU Stern?

Stern was my only choice when I applied. Every person I met throughout the process, from alumni to current students to the admissions team, reinforced that this was the right place for me. I wanted to join a community that values both IQ and EQ, and one that genuinely strives to create positive change in the world.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

Do it. You will never regret investing in yourself, especially in a community that pushes and supports you like Stern does. Seriously, connect with me on LinkedIn - I would be happy to chat.

How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?

Coming from the Bay Area, moving cross-country with my husband and two cats felt daunting at first. But NYC has made this experience infinitely richer. There is no other city like it. One night I am at a tech or AI event, the next I am at a startup mixer, and another night I am grabbing dinner and exploring new thrift stores. The city amplifies everything I am learning and doing at Stern.
