One sentence quote about your experience at NYU Stern so far:
A work-hard, play-hard environment that keeps you on your toes.
Why did you decide to pursue the focused one-year MBA program?
As someone who was working in the tech industry pre-MBA, I knew I wanted to stay in the industry but pivot to a new role. I also knew that the cost of an MBA was steep, and couldn't get myself over the opportunity cost. When doing my research, I found the Tech MBA and knew that the program was made for me. It's tech focused, allows me to experience NYC, and is half the opportunity cost. It tackled all of my needs/wants/concerns in one go.
How would you describe the culture and community within your class?
Stern places a lot of emphasis on IQ, but I'd argue that they place a heavier emphasis on EQ and it really shows within our Tech cohort. We're not just a group of 49 classmates; we're a group of 49 friends. Perhaps a summer of 9-5's forces the bond, but we're a group who show up and out for each other all the time. I've never felt more comfortable being myself, and it's because this cohort accepts everyone for exactly who they are.
What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?
It's easily the community. I've been made to feel loved and respected and cherished by everyone in our cohort, and it shows in various ways. My favorite was my birthday. We were a little over a month into the program when my birthday happened, but I was met with hugs and flowers, drinks during happy hour, shoutouts during presentations and people breaking into a birthday song in the elevator. Top 3 most memorable birthdays for me for sure, and it's also thanks to the cohort..
How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?
Not only do you get to go to a renowned university, but you get to live in a renowned city. Living in NYC has given us easy access to alumni, company HQs, and startups that we wouldn't have otherwise. It's also kept the cohort on their toes when it comes to social events - there's so much to do, it's hard to choose what to do next.
