One sentence quote about your experience at NYU Stern so far:
Stern is full of warm, driven, and brilliant people who will help open up a world of opportunities and are genuinely interested in helping you succeed.
Why did you decide to pursue the focused one-year MBA program?
The one year, focused programs are a great option for anyone excited about the full time MBA experience, but doesn't want to spend two years away from the workforce. The tech industry moves incredibly fast, so the ability to gain a great business foundation, participate in experiential learning opportunities, expand my network, and return to work in a single year really appealed to me.
What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?
There have been a ton of great treks, talks, workshops, classes and club activities at Stern. One highlight was when Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales talked to us about building a mission driven tech company. Another was the block olympics, which was a great chance for us to get to know more of our class while competing in really fun games.
Why did you choose NYU Stern?
I chose Stern because it was one of the only schools that offered an MBA focused on technology and entrepreneurship. I wanted to attend business classes that were tailored to a career in tech, and the Andre Koo Tech MBA program felt like the best of both worlds- a traditional business education combined with the experiential learning opportunities that would prepare me for a career in the industry.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Stern is truly what you make of it! Take the time when you first get to campus to understand everything it has to offer so that you are able to take full advantage of the experience. I would also recommend keeping in touch with your professors after classes end, they are so excited to help you explore new industries, advise on your projects, prepare you for interviews, and more.
How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?
The treks and company visits we have been able to go on because of our NYC location has been a huge benefit of attending NYU Stern. We heard directly from big tech, startups, consulting, venture capital, health tech, media companies, financial firms, and more. This exposure really helped me understand the options available for MBA students post grad.
