What is a spot in NYC that is special to you?

Washington Square Park is near and dear to my heart. I walked through the park daily as I walked to and from class. It’s the spot where the cohort has met up for lunches, group project meetings were held, and coffee chats were had. When I think of that park, it reminds me of my time at NYU.

What was your favorite class at Stern?

My favorite class at Stern was Leadership in Organizations (LiO) with Nate Pettit. This happened to be my first class at Stern and really set the stage for a great year and program. The class pushed me to learn new soft and hard skills as a leader and helped me grow both personally and professionally. Nate is the best professor and I’m so glad it’s a class that was built into our curriculum.

How did you find a sense of community and support within Stern?

I personally feel like you automatically find a sense of community and support as a student within the Andre Koo Tech MBA cohort. The size of the cohort allows you to get to know everyone so well that you are able to foster meaningful connections with the entire class. Beyond the cohort, I found a sense of community within Stern at large by joining different clubs and through classes with other Stern students.

How would you describe the culture and community within your Andre Koo Tech MBA cohort? How have you interacted with alumni from previous Andre Koo Tech MBA cohorts?

The Andre Koo Tech MBA cohort is tight-knit, collaborative, supportive, and creative. The group is composed of people with unique backgrounds and experiences that you can learn from and lean on. Alumni from previous cohorts have been a huge support prior to and during my Stern experience as well. There are some in particular who helped influence my decision to go to Stern and supported my MBA journey along the way.

What was a highlight from one of your Stern Solutions courses?

It was a really cool opportunity to work with a large tech firm in a consulting capacity. I felt like the work my team and I contributed was impactful to the firm and we were able to put our learnings into action throughout the course. I personally walked away from that experience with new skills and proud of the work my team and I accomplished.

Tell us about your tech background prior to the program. How did you prepare for the program before it began?

Prior to Stern, I was working as a Technical Product Manager at a SaaS startup and have experience taking beginner programming classes as a part of my undergrad experience. Knowing that Python was a recommended skill, I audited a class that was offered via Stern prior to the program and did a self-paced bootcamp as well.

How did Stern’s Office of Career Development prepare you for success?

Stern’s Office of Career Development is amazing. The team has been invaluable to my recruiting experience. Between the resume reviews, mock interviews, resources, and recruitment strategy sessions, I have felt incredibly supported and well equipped because of the OCD team.

Why did you choose NYU Stern and the Andre Koo Tech MBA?

Based on my background and career goals, the NYU Stern Andre Koo Tech MBA was the perfect fit. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to develop leaders at the intersection of business and technology which is where I was looking to grow. The Stern community and network is collaborative, supportive, and filled with thought-leaders whom I was excited to connect and foster relationships with.
