How did you find a sense of community and support within Stern?

The community and support that I’ve found at Stern started to be built during the first admitted student happy hour, where it was clear that my future classmates were friendly, driven, and very accomplished. However, the most important factor for my sense of belonging at Stern is that I can truly be myself with my friends, classmates, and professors. Everyone at Stern is on the same team in wanting to see collective success across all students, and that dynamic empowers individuals to not only grow but also to self-reflect.

How would you describe the culture and community within your class?

Given that the Tech MBA cohort is smaller, I would describe our culture as tight-knit, supportive, and fun-loving. We use our cohort’s WhatsApp group chat to not only share helpful info regarding homework and job opportunities but also to collectively relieve stress and share memes. Overall, everyone at Stern is incredibly talented in some way, and I’d say our culture and community allow everyone’s talents to shine, almost creating a mosaic of individuality and expertise.

What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?

One of the key highlights of my Stern experience was when the Tech MBAs celebrated completing our Summer semester by having a potluck lunch / happy hour in Central Park. So many people showed up and we all had the moment to take a step back and realize that we had completed the most intense part of our MBA experience. Being able to celebrate together is what made the moment so special, and it has served as a reminder that we need to celebrate our achievements, both large and small, during our time at Stern.

Why did you choose NYU Stern?

NYU Stern’s unparalleled sense of community, academically-renowned professors, and unbeatable location in the heart of NYC were the key reasons why I chose Stern. Additionally, Stern’s Tech MBA offered key skillsets and immersive learning experiences that I could leverage to take the next step in my career. During the application process, I talked to countless NYU Stern students, and their friendliness and welcoming nature solidified my belief that NYU Stern is the perfect business school for me.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

I would recommend prospective students utilize self-reflection during the application process, as self-reflection is one of the core tenets of EQ. This can include having friends or family reading your essays to provide constructive feedback, or even having one of your Application Sponsors reviewing your resume. Additionally, I would highly recommend connecting with both current students and alumni, because their firsthand experience on what makes Stern special will help you in articulating why you also want to go to Stern.
