Tom Schick

Executive Vice President, Corporate and External Affairs
American Express Company

Mr. Schick is responsible for American Express Company's global communications, government relations and corporate social responsibility activities. He serves as Chairman of the American Express Foundation and is a member of the company's Operating Committee and Global Management Team.

Mr. Schick has served in his current position since March 1993. He joined American Express from Shearson Lehman Brothers, then American Express' investment banking and brokerage subsidiary, where he was senior vice president for Corporate Affairs for nine years.

Prior to joining the American Express family of companies, Mr. Schick served as Associate Dean for External Relations at New York University's (NYU) Stern School of Business Administration. He was with NYU for 10 years, from 1973-1983, as an administrator and a member of the management faculty, and holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University. He continues to guest-lecture regularly at the business school, and has guest lectured at a number of leading European and Japanese business schools.

Mr. Schick is Co-Chairman of the Board of the International Rescue Committee, a leading global humanitarian organization, providing refugee relief and relocation services and operating in 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities.  He is a Director of the U.S.-India Business Council, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mr. Schick is the author of the New York State Constitutional Convention of 1915.
He and his wife Sharon have three adult children.
