What moment made you realize Stern was the home for you?
The week before orientation, about two-thirds of our incoming class took a big trip to the Hamptons and enjoyed lots of fun beach outings, cookouts, parties, dinners, and so on. This was my first time interacting with my new classmates and from the moment I showed up at the charter bus pickup spot in Manhattan, I knew Stern was the right place. Everyone was so excited to get to know each other, and the dozens of new friends I made on that trip have only gotten closer in the year since. It was a fantastic start to my Stern MBA.
How did you prepare for the program before you began it?
I traveled! My last day of work was May 30th (since my apartment lease in Washington, DC was up soon after that), so I spent a month in Europe as well as lots of time back home with my family and friends. Other than that, I played my guitars, golfed, and tried my best to catch a tan.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
The Full-time MBA is just 2 short years, half of a traditional undergraduate program, so you need to make the most of every moment. Show up the first day with the mindset of meeting as many people as you can, making some good friends, joining different clubs and events, and pushing yourself to explore outside your comfort zone. Your time here will fly by.
What club or organization are you most proud of being a part of?
I'm very proud to be one of the two Co-Presidents of the Graduate Finance Association, which is a cornerstone of our Stern MBA investment banking and other finance recruitment. The club was extremely valuable for me during my own investment banking (IB) recruitment journey, particularly by providing me with access to our second-years and Stern IB alumni who successfully navigated recruiting themselves in the past. My class had strong camaraderie during the process, exchanging information and helping each other prep, which led to a strong overall placement across Wall Street. It's very exciting to have the opportunity to lead these efforts next year!
How has being located in the heart of NYC set you up for professional success?
If you are pursuing a career in finance, there is no place better than New York City, and Stern is centrally located right between the hotspots of the Financial District ("FiDi") and Midtown. Whereas some other MBA programs need to fly, train, bus, or video-call into the city for coffee chats and recruitment events, Sternies can visit the banks any day of the week when called in for a coffee chat, happy hour, or dinner. Furthermore, because most of our MBA graduates remain in the city, the NYU Stern alumni network is very strong and easily accessible to our students.
How would you describe the Stern community?
The Stern community is awesome, and I think our MBA class (in the mid-300s) is the perfect size. Any night of the week there are a variety of cultural, social, or career events going on, and essentially every event is open for anyone to attend. After a year here I feel like I've met everyone at least once, and I have a really strong group of best friends who are always around to hang out as well. People also have a ton of energy to do things out in NYC, from theater events on Broadway, athletics (our Stern Hoops team played CBS at Barclays Center), or a Netflix Original movie premiere I attended in April 2026 with a group of about 20 Sternies. I had high hopes, but the Stern community has been even better than expected.
