What moment made you realize Stern was the home for you?
I never knew an MBA was an option for me, coming from a non business background and being a first generation student. On a friend’s (and Langone student’s) recommendation, I found myself in September 2023 at an info session in Paulson and was so encouraged by the student panel at the event. They all had completely different backgrounds and pre-MBA careers and all with amazing post graduation futures. I felt like my unique career path was valued at Stern!
How did you prepare for the program before you began it?
I really… didn’t? Is that bad to admit? I spent time with my family and friends and did truly the most minimal math skills brush-up!
What class/professor has made the deepest impression on you?
I loved my first semester Foundations of Finance class with Professor Savov! I loved his passion, sense of humor, and weekly newsletters he sent to us contextualizing concepts from class in current events!
What advice do you have for prospective students?
There is no "right" journey to pursuing your MBA! My career path has been full of right and left turns and I believe those experiences allow me to have a richer pool of experiences and opinions to bring to the table!
What advice would you give your first semester self?
Trust your journey has given you the tools you need to succeed! Also, recruiting is definitely tough, but don’t forget to have fun when and where you can!
What surprised you the most about Stern?
How generous the student body is! Everyone is so willing to help with classes, events, recruiting - you name it, a Sternie will come to your rescue!
What club or organization are you most proud of being a part of?
I am so excited to be a VP for SGov's Admissions team next year! Being first gen, I really relied on current students when gathering information to make my decisions. I am really excited to not only be able to give back next year, but have a leadership role in shaping those experiences! I’m also really excited to be a career mentor for the next group of MBA1s and help them navigate their career journey!
Who makes up your chosen family at NYU Stern?
Block 5 forever (you'll know what that means soon enough)! I also couldn't do it without the support of my family and non Stern friends as well! And my Russian Blue cat Booted Bantam!
How has being located in the heart of NYC set you up for professional success?
Location is everything and NYC is unparalleled in all industries! I really liked that I had opportunities to visit offices and connect with employers in person! NYC has been my home for 12 years now and there is nowhere else like it!
