What has been your favorite class at Stern?

I LOVED Modeling Financial Statements. In addition to a thoughtful set of assignments that makes things very real, Professor Gode has a tough-love style that combines Stern's warmth and NYC's toughness.

How have you found a sense of community and support within Stern?

I have a very specific example of how tight knit the Stern community is. While I was recruiting, Mauricio, a former Sternie from the 2020 class helped me in a mock interview. During our chat, I found out he was in Chicago for the weekend with a friend, heading to a music festival. I was amazed he volunteered that time to help me, even though we'd barely spoken before that.

How would you describe the culture and community within your class?

Stern MBAs are a very diverse set of people. We all share one characteristic, though: we want to grow together. It's very common to see people going out of their way to help a peer in recruiting, academics, and even in social life.

What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?

I love talking to prospective students and helping them lead the way. Being here is a big dream come true and I feel grateful to have a chance to contribute (even a little) to other people's dreams.

How did you prepare for the program before you began?

For me, it was key to make connections with current MBAs. They helped me understand what to do for my specific case. Since I am Latino, I was able to take advantage of pre-MBA programs and got an internship offer even before the MBA started -- with a ton of help from current students and alums.

Why did you choose NYU Stern?

I felt embraced by the community even before the MBA started. Even though I was unable to visit campus due to COVID, happy hours organized by some of my colleagues and connections with current students helped me to feel like I belonged.

How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?

While I still can't believe I live in New York City, I feel at home here. That's because I was able to connect with a ton of people from all over the world, within and beyond the Stern community, and very quickly became very good friends with many of them.

Who is someone that has strongly influenced your time at Stern and your career search?

Rodrigo Sismotto, from the Class of 2021. I got an email from him before my interview, and he was immensely helpful with everything -- from getting an internship to moving to NYC. Now, he's my neighbor and one of my closest friends. The same could be said about Mauricio Mitidieri (Class of 2020) and Leo Bretas (Class of 2022).
