Date

Join the NYU Stern CSB for the global book launch of Warming Up: How Climate Change is Changing Sport by world-leading sport ecologist, Madeleine Orr. Madeleine will be joined for a panel discussion by sustainability executives with the major professional sports leagues in the US.

Climate change poses a clear threat to sports, but with billions of participants and fans around the world who rely on the sports sector for entertainment, jobs, fitness and health, this is one industry we can’t afford to lose. In Warming Up, world-leading sport ecologist Madeleine Orr shows that we don’t have to. There are ways to mitigate, and perhaps counter even the worst elements of climate change.

Madeleine will open the conversation one-on-one with Catie Collins (‘24), NYU soccer player, followed by an excerpt reading from her book. She will then be joined in conversation with:

  • Nana Baffour, Executive Chairman of Enda
  • Lew Blaustein, Founder, EcoAthletes
  • Tiffany Lau, Venue Development & Sustainability Lead, NBA and
  • Omar Mitchell, Sustainable Infrastructure & Growth Initiatives, NHL

The reading and panel discussion will be followed by refreshments and networking opportunities, along with opportunities to win a free copy of the book. Registration is required and space is limited so register today! This event is open to the public.
