Rethink, Reframe and Rise: Cultivating a Mindset for Possibility

Daria Burke x Vann Newkirk Event Flyer

Date

Location

The Beekman Hotel | 123 Nassau St. New York, New York 10038

Join the Stern School of Business's Black and Latino Alumni (BALA) Group and Stern Office for Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) as we host author and business leader, Daria Burke (Stern '08) in an intimate and thought-provoking conversation with Vann R. Newkirk II (Senior Editor, The Atlantic) to discuss her memoir, OF MY OWN MAKING and the transformative power of resilience and reinvention.

Through personal storytelling and cutting-edge research, Burke unpacks how confronting childhood trauma not only shaped her career but also rewired her brain for growth. Exploring the intersection of adversity, neuroscience, and possibility thinking, this conversation will challenge the narratives we tell ourselves about success, survival, and self-determination—offering a powerful reminder that we are not defined by our origin stories, but who we choose to become.

The evening will conclude with a vibrant networking reception, offering the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow Stern alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
