The Career Center for Working Professionals Offer Array of Virtual Alumni Programs: The Virtues of Virtual Networking

Eliza Shanley
The pandemic put a stop to many things, but it did not interrupt networking. “I often hear from alumni, especially those seeking a new job opportunity, that the pandemic has disrupted their networking. But in fact networking has never been easier,” explained Eliza Shanley, senior director, Stern’s Career Center for Working Professionals (CCWP). “Everyone has “virtual” availability now so it’s not difficult to schedule a Zoom meeting to connect.”

All NYU Stern alumni have access to career development support through CCWP; BS alumni can also access career support and job postings through NYU’s Wasserman Center for Career Development. CCWP offers support and programs for all career levels, including how to make a good impression during the first 90 days at a new job, strategies for negotiating an offer, prepping for a performance review, insights on making a career pivot, as well as facilitating networking among alumni. Stern prides itself on offering robust lifelong career support, and in 2020, launched Stern Network, and new online networking and mentorship platform that helps alumni and students connect.

During this past year CCWP took its programs virtual, creating new opportunities for alumni to connect with each other. This spring, the Career Center is offering:
