NYU Impact Investing Alumni Club Honors NYU Professor Scott Taitel, Founding Faculty Lead of NYU’s Impact Investment Fund (NIIF)
In 2019, NYU Professor Scott Taitel helped launch the NYU Impact Investment Fund (NIIF), one of the first student operated impact funds in the nation, that unites students from the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, Stern School of Business, NYU Abu Dhabi and the NYU School of Law who are committed to sustainable business and social impact. On September 21, the NYU Impact Investing Alumni Club (NIIAC) hosted an event to honor Professor Taitel as he retires and steps down as the faculty leader of the fund. Professor Andrea Armeni will take over as the new NIIF faculty lead.
The event brought together NIIF alumni for a chance to express their gratitude toward Professor Taitel. Simone Farrell Shaheen, a NIIF alumna and the President of the NYU Impact Investing Alumni Club (NIIAC), welcomed guests and shared how grateful the NYU community has been for Professor Taitel’s vision and mentorship. Simone also announced that in honor of his retirement and the incredible legacy he has left, an anonymous alumni donor has issued a challenge gift to encourage others to join in thanking Professor Taitel and supporting the NIIF program. NIIF alumni and other members of the NYU community involved in impact investment can join the campaign to raise $25,000 in 25 days.
“We hope that the NYU community and alumni of NIIF will participate in the match challenge to help ensure that more students will benefit from this amazing program for years to come,” said Simone. “The funds are critical to the ongoing sustainability of the fund.”
NIIF provides experiential learning and acts as a springboard for preparing emerging professionals for competitive impact investing roles globally while providing much needed investment capital to early stage impact enterprises. Learn more about the NIIF program.
