Launched in 2019, the Alumni Audit Program allows graduates of NYU Stern degree-granting programs to audit one elective-level MBA course per semester at no cost. Auditing takes place remotely via livestream.

NYU Stern alumni who have graduated from a degree-granting program are eligible to participate, subject to approval from the Office of Alumni Relations and space availability. Participants must also be in good standing with the University.

The program is offered twice per year, during the fall and spring semesters.

Each semester, the Office of Alumni Relations curates a list of approximately 15–20 approved MBA elective courses.

The course list and registration link are posted on the Alumni Audit Program page in early January for the spring semester and mid-August for the fall semester. Alumni who opt into audit alerts will also receive an email when registration opens.

No. Only courses on the official semester list are available for auditing.

Not always. Course offerings vary based on faculty availability, scheduling, and format suitability. Some courses may repeat, while others are offered only occasionally.

Although alumni auditors participate via livestream and are not limited by classroom seating capacity, some faculty choose to cap the number of auditors they are comfortable having in their course each semester. We respect each faculty member's preferences and, as a result, waitlists may be necessary for certain classes.

1. Join Stern Network, the School's online networking and engagement platform. Follow the prompt to log into Stern Network, or create an account with your preferred email address.
2. Once you’ve created an account, navigate to the "Lifelong Learning: Alumni Audit Program" group, located under the "Alumni Groups" tab. Press the "Join" button in the upper right hand corner.
3. To confirm you are a group member, check to ensure you see the option to "Leave Group" in place of the "Join" button.
4. By joining this group, you are opting in to receive email alerts from the Office of Alumni Relations related to the Alumni Audit Program.

No, alumni may only audit one class per semester.

Courses are delivered to alumni via livestream. Faculty and enrolled students meet in person on campus, while alumni auditors observe remotely. Alumni do not participate in class discussions.

Recordings are available to all approved auditors through the end of the semester.

All materials are available through NYU Brightspace, including:

• Livestream links and recordings
• Syllabi
• Lecture slides
• Readings and other course materials
• Announcements and updates

All official updates from faculty are shared through Brightspace. Alumni may also contact their professors directly via email (contact information will be listed in the course syllabus).

Alumni may audit one course per semester. When registration is open, log into the portal with your NYU Net ID and password, complete your profile, and submit your course request.

If your preferred course is full, you may be placed on a waitlist and can select a backup course.

If a seat opens in your waitlisted course, you will be enrolled automatically and your backup selection will be removed.

You will need to log in using your NYU NetID and password. Your NetID must be entered in this format: netid@nyu.edu

If you do not know your NYU NetID or would like to reset your password, please follow these instructions, or email alumni@stern.nyu.edu for additional assistance.

After registration closes, the Office of Alumni Relations reviews all requests and confirms eligibility across University systems. If a participant is not eligible, they will be notified directly.

You will receive an email approximately one week before classes begin from alumni@stern.nyu.edu with your audit status and access instructions.

If you do not hear back one week before classes begin, please contact us.

Participants must be NYU Stern degree-holding alumni in good standing with the University. They must be approved to audit by the Office of Alumni Relations and must adhere to NYU Stern’s policies and procedures including the School’s Code of Conduct.

Alumni auditors may:

• Watch classes via livestream
• Access recordings
• Access course materials in Brightspace

Alumni auditors may not:

• Take exams or receive grades
• Participate in group work
• Earn academic credit
• Have courses appear on transcripts

No. The program is non-credit and does not include grades or transcript recognition.

No. Recording, sharing, or distributing any course content is strictly prohibited. Class recordings in Brightspace are not to be made public in any way.

No. Late requests cannot be accommodated.

Yes. NYU Stern may revoke access at any time for policy violations.
