A conversation about career paths in climate with NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business (CSB) and Terra.do

Are you interested in sustainability but unsure how it translates into a career? Join the NYU Stern CSB and Terra.do to learn about how you can use your skills and experience to work directly on climate change while building a fantastic career for yourself. Understand the breadth of the climate economy (over 50% of the world's GDP!) and the depth of climate jobs in every imaginable function and for every imaginable skillset. Nishant Mani (Stern MBA '07, Chief Business Officer at Terra.do) will share insights gleaned by mining tens of thousands of climate jobs, and he will be joined by senior leaders from rapidly growing climate tech startups. The agenda includes welcoming remarks from CSB, Climate Jobs: State of the Union address with Nishant, a panel discussion, and time for networking. Snacks will be provided.

The panel discussion, moderated by Nishant Mani, will feature:

- Capture6 (Calli Obern, Director of Policy) is a direct air capture (DAC) company making plans to remove millions of tons of CO2 from the air every year in New Zealand. Capture6 uses salt-water and electrochemistry as a path to absorption of atmospheric carbon, which is incorporated into calcium carbonate – what seashells are made of – and then returned back to the ocean. The industrial-scale solutions offered by Capture6 technology are poised to capture millions of tons of carbon per year by 2030.

- CleanCapital (Jillian Majka, Head of HR) is a diversified clean energy investment platform. We deploy a unique approach—underpinned by industry-leading technology—to make attractive investments in distributed generation solar and energy storage. In just over four years, CleanCapital has become one of the leading owner-operators of commercial & industrial (C&I) solar in the U.S. CleanCapital was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in New York City.

- ClimateWrx Holdings (Michael Connors, CEO) is an online investment platform that allows accredited and non-accredited investors to invest in climate tech startups, funds, and projects. ClimateWrx seeks to advance potential climate solutions by introducing investors to opportunities in technology companies, funds and projects seeking capital.

- Emily Steinberg is a veteran in solar sales and financing. She started her solar journey at Sunrun, the nation's largest residential solar installer, managing retail programs with Costco and the Home Depot. She then joined Sunlight Financial, a leading residential solar loan provider, where she built sales support functions (Analytics, Sales Operations, Training, Product Marketing, and Special Programs), to propel a rapidly-growing sales team to generate more than $7B in solar loans. Emily is now launching a consulting practice to help growth-stage companies in climate tech achieve their revenue goals.

This event takes place during NYU 2040 Now, a University-wide initiative where we explore our community response to the challenge of climate change.
